Glitter Girl Revival

I am tempted to write this post in a clandestine soap opera style!  But I will try and hold back!

There once was a young man named Jacob, who thought skinny jeans were cool for WAY too many years.  His mother blogged incessantly at the time and even documented his first kiss!!!  Yes a much publicized DOUBLE-smooch recorded in the post... (If you haven't read it or need a refresher... enjoy the hyperlink!)

A post that would get one Emilee F. known in the Call home as .... "Glitter Girl" for the past several years.  In fact most of us had forgotten her name because we had just always refereed to her as simply "Glitter Girl".

But a chain of events would create a situation where we had to actually sit all 5 of our other children down on the couch and make them PROMISE not to 'slip' and call this lovely young lady any "G-words"... and then remind them her real name is Emilee.

Why?  Because Jake is in love. Awwweeeee.  A glitter revival is reborn! A glittery goth girlfriend renaissance!

Jake and Emilee ran into each other and then started hanging-out at our home.  Before long he found himself victim to the wiles (or at least the glitter) of women.

Now this intense of a relationship is a bit new to us.  Jake has been a "love'm and leave'm after a few days" type of guy, but now he is twitterpated.

In all good parenting strategies, Brandoneous had Miss Emilee and Jake sit down next to us and read out loud "For the Strength of the Youth." Then after they read together, a generous Brandon rewarded this obedience and offered to pay for their next date.  (Can't take credit for that good parenting impromptu... all Brandoneous's idea).  We have come to really like Emilee.  She has grown out of her goth glitter as Jake has his skinny jeans, and she dresses really cute.

I am now SO old that when Jake had his band concert, Emilee joined us. OH yes, we are in 'the girlfriend sits with the family' phase of life.

Some of you have gone thru this..
Some of you haven't...
AND some of you are watching me to see how I deal with every new parenting adventure--- heaven help the latter of you!

I will say though... since my Dad calls Jake 'the most grounded teenager on the planet', there is nothing like your very own glitter girl girlfriend for good grades verses grounding G-motivation!

So again I ask for no teasing on Facebook! I like being privy to all of Jake's friends and what they say.  And while Jacob would loose Facebook before he were allowed to delete me, his friends just might think different. :)
