Empty and Quiet

I sit alone in a house once run rampant with 11 people, while the smell of teriyaki turkey fillets wafts through the kitchen and living room. I am not sure what is more disturbing.  That my Oxford spell check didn't know the word teriyaki. Do the English not eat teriyaki?

or... that I used the word 'waft' in a cogent sentence... when Brandoneous uses it to describe when his eeking 'scent' is being dispersed through the very same living space-

or... that I had to dry my freshly laundered skivvies with a blow drier to be on time to the Y. At least I have never had to resort to turning them inside out. And if I ever did... like I would put it in writing! Not! (Oh that just reminded me of Miner! YAY! The word 'not' that is... not inside out underwear!)

Now as far as the 11 people... we were pleased to have Justin R. (Ol' Bishop's son), Chris A. (Danae's bro.), and Un-named 3rd-person (He was just one of their old room-ies... kinda like a 5th member of the away team that you never learn the name of before they're gone) live with us for August and most of September while being booted from Summer housing at BYU to fall housing.

We have 2 bedrooms that don't even have furniture in them (well one is empty and the other just has a bed) and that I never go in for months on end, so we love visitors. Most people are still shocked when we say that the Hougaard's lived with us for 5 1/2 months, but it was REALLY fun!

So, why am I alone?  There is mutual tonight. Jake, Caleb, and Brandon are at Scouts.  Rainy, Dalyn, Savannah, and Evie, are at our neighborhood park.

OK That is life at home... how about the Y?

For those of you who have left the Y. It was a hard week on the BIO/PWS faculty last week with the loss of Dr. Harper BYU emeritus and U of U faculty.  Dr. Harper was Loreen's PhD adviser in her youth.  I taught her Ecology class for her on Friday during the funeral.  I lectured on 'Sex and Evolution'... I hope it is OK to call male birds with ugly plumage "LOSERS!!"... "who will never find a mate, eliminating their genetic material from the gene pool".

Everyone is home... bye!
